My name is Kevin C Lawler (he/him) and I am a painter working out of the Chicago area.
I primarily paint in oils, and like to mix styles together to find different ways of seeing. I paint in a pseudorealistic style sometimes pushing pareidolic impulses into their extremes to show how far from reality our sight can deviate and also reveal how abstraction can both enlighten to find new connections or falter towards erroneous conclusions.
I use portraiture as an entry point to ease the viewer into increasing levels of abstraction.
